5 Ways to Follow SHOT Show Online; Chatter Picking Up Steam

With the SHOT Show under a week away, the online conversation about the show is growing each day on sites like Twitter and Facebook.

According to data pulled by NSSF and social media monitoring service Radian6, common words associated with the show have been Vegas, products, guns, hunting, excited, booth and many others. If you click on the conversation cloud at right, you’ll see some of the topics making their way into the SHOT Show-related conversation online. The time period for this report is Jan. 2-8.

Those following the #shotshow hashtag on Twitter have probably seen firsthand just how much the chatter has picked up in the past week alone.

If you’d like to follow the SHOT Show online, here are a few ways to do it:

1. SHOT Show Blog: NSSF’s Emerging Media Director Bill Dunn will be providing frequent updates throughout the show. These will include news, videos, links to other blogs and sites providing coverage, SHOT Daily issues and more.

2. Twitter: I’d encourage everyone to follow @nssfshotshow (not to mention myself @chrisdolnack) for updates throughout the show. Also be sure to follow the #shotshow hashtag, where you’ll find updates from attendees, exhibitors and media covering the show.

3. Facebook: If you’re more of Facebook person, be sure “Like” the SHOT Show on Facebook. We’ll be providing updates, photos and videos and sharing links to other sites providing SHOT Show coverage throughout the show.

4. YouTube: Tune in to the SHOT Show YouTube Channel at youtube.com/nssfshotshow for videos from the show floor, the State of the Industry Dinner and more. We’ll also be “favoriting” videos from other sources covering the show.

5. SHOT Mobile: The new-and-improved SHOT Mobile app is available for download on the iTunes App Store, Android Market and at shotmobile.com. My personal favorite new feature is the social media aggregator. With just a push of a button you can see what fellow attendees are saying about SHOT Show and noteworthy new product introductions via Twitter. You can also read all the latest SHOT Show news through the SHOT Show Blog feed without leaving the app.

If you’ll be providing online coverage of the show, let everyone know in the comments below.

See you all at the #SHOTShow!

I attend apprx. 14-18 L/E trade shows a year and SHOT SHOW is the poorest organized show. You could say i dread attending this show every year.
They place vendors in random location that are impossible to find combined with the last second changes to floor plans makes it impossible for my customers and myself to find what i am looking for. When i ask one of the Staff they usually don’t have a clue either.
I am actively encouraging my company to abandon SHOT SHOW and put our money to better use.
As an L/E vendor it gets tiring speaking with attendees that have no business in this private industry.

Sorry you feel that way.  Last minute changes to the show floor are usually because of cancellations that allow us to upgrade the locationof an exhibitor and admit a new exhibitor.  We look at that as an opportunity.  Your comment about SHOT Show staff is simply untrue.  We do our best to screen unqualified attendees.  Unfortunately exhibitors themselves are the number one culprit in admitting “tire kickers”–college roommates, officers they were on the job with, ex-neighbors, etc.  We can only do so much in that regard.  Have a happy day.

I’ve got them all covered; looking forward to a great SHOT Show (I think it will be my twelfth).

Glad to hear it.  The cool thing is that other buyers and media can alert each other when they find something unique.

Hi Chris. The GunsAmerica Blog will have even more covering than last year and probably three dozen or so products from all of the major manufacturers in video, so please stop by the booth if you would like to coordinate anything.  Our video editor is working the press room this year if there really are outlets as it said (there weren’t last year).

There are Paul.  You’ll see a number of improvements that I think you’ll like.
