Budweiser Names Conservationist of Year at SHOT Show

Budweiser has named Bill D’Alonzo, a Ducks Unlimited volunteer and member of DU’s board of directors, its 2012 Budweiser Conservationist of the Year.

The presentation was made Wednesday at the SHOT Show in the Budweiswer-sponsored Press Room.

D’Alonzo, of Greenville, Del., has designated DU as the recipient of the $50,000 National Fish and Wildlife Foundation grant accompanying the award, and has asked that this gift be split between the Chesapeake-Delaware Bay conservation area and the Boreal Forest Initiative, in support of DU’s partnership with the Pew Charitable Trust.

The annual Budweiser Conservationist of the Year program recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the outdoors and conservation. The winner selects a conservation organization to receive a $50,000 grant from Budweiser and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

“Since 1995, the Budweiser Outdoors program has celebrated and supported the passion, dedication and leadership of conservationists across the country,” said Bob Fishbeck, senior manager for the Budweiser brands. “We all have a responsibility to help protect our natural resources and the work being done by Bill and other wildlife advocates is an inspiration for all of us to follow.”
