Longtime SHOT Show Director Dennis MacDonald to Retire

Dennis MacDonald, who for many years has worked closely with NSSF in overseeing the SHOT Show, will be retiring from Reed Exhibitions, effective June 1.

All of us at NSSF would like to congratulate Dennis on his retirement and thank him for all he has done for our industry’s trade show over the years. The SHOT Show has evolved into one of the world’s largest and most successful shows, and Dennis’ guidance along the way has greatly contributed to that growth and success.

With Dennis’ retirement, Reed will be promoting Dave Jeannette from sales manager to event director, responsible for the SHOT Show. Dave is a familiar face at the SHOT Show — serving as its acting event director at the 2011 show — and we are happy to have him on the SHOT Show team in an expanded role.

Dave will report to Reed Exhibitions’ Senior Vice President Ed Several and the SHOT Show will move into Ed’s portfolio where there are clear synergies with the Eastern Sports Show and ISC. In the past Ed has lent his expertise in attendee promotion and space assignment to us with good results.

While Dennis is leaving at the end of this month, he will serve in an advisory role to me and the NSSF team through the 2012 SHOT Show.

Please join me in wishing Dennis all the best in the future.
