SHOT Show Exhibitors and Attendees: Beware of Third-Party Hotel Scams

All exhibitors and attendees that booked hotel rooms outside the SHOT Show room block through a third-party (not directly with the hotel or the SHOT Show Housing Bureau) should contact the hotel to confirm their reservation.

We have received reports that at least one hotel room reseller, d/b/a HDMC, appears to have taken payment from SHOT Show attendees and exhibitors without actually booking the rooms.

Any SHOT Show attendee that dealt with HDMC is urged to immediately to contact the hotel directly to confirm whether or not they have a reservation and, if not, to immediately make alternative housing arrangements.

The Venetian Receives M&C Gold Awards for Fourth Straight Year

We were pleased to learn that our SHOT Show partner The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino has been honored for the fourth year in a row with “elite” status for the Gold Key and Gold Platter awards.

The prestigious honor was awarded by Meetings and Conventions magazine for 2010 based on voters’ experiences.

The Venetian is the only property in Las Vegas to consistently receive the “elite” status over the past four years; the Venetian has won the Gold Key award 11 years in a row and the Gold Platter award nine years in a row.

The Gold Key award recognizes the property for staff attitude, quality of meeting rooms, quality of guest services, quality of food and beverage service, proficiency of handling reservations, technical/support equipment and range of recreational facilities, while the Gold Platter award recognizes the resort’s catering department for excellence displayed in creativity and culinary experience through staff enthusiasm and professionalism, quality of food presentation, creativity of menu, originality of theme-party concepts, helpfulness and budgeting considerations, excellence of staff service and dining room ambiance.

Congratulations to The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino!

Getting Around Town: Transportation Options at the SHOT Show

If you're not staying within walking distance, Las Vegas offers a variety of transportation options. We'll also be providing free shuttle services to and from our official SHOT Show hotels. Parking at the show is limited, so driving is not recommended.

Here are a few options:

SHOT SHOW SHUTTLE BUSES: As usual, there will be free shuttle buses running to and from our official SHOT Show hotels. The buses will run every 15 to 20 minutes from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

There will also be shuttle buses to McCarran International Airport from the Sands Expo on Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the airport shuttles are $10 and can be purchased at the transportation desk in the bus-loading area of the Sands Expo.

TAXI CABS: The taxi cab area is located in front of the Sands Expo. Taxis are also available at the Venetian and Palazzo Hotels. On show days, there will also be Speed Buses that will expedite groups going from the Sands Expo to our larger official SHOT Show hotels.

THE MONORAIL: The closest stop to the show is Harrah's, which is about a mile walk to the show. Taking the monorail, you can travel from one end of the Strip to the other in 15 minutes or less. Hours of operation are Monday to Thursday, 7 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Friday to Sunday, 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. Learn more.

THE DEUCE: A double-decker luxury bus that runs along the Strip. View rates, stops and hours.
